Re: Is this place dead?
Hope not.
I have not been around simply because i switched to Linux.
But this forum still have fantastic information.
Regarding Linux i am very, very happy. Specially regarding security. I know people normally do not care about security in the Linux world, but it is free and the most advanced out there.
I said here that compiling your own kernel with Pax and Grsecurity patches is only for geeks, but not quite. Actually not even close, compiling a kernel is very simple as long as you have the right commands (know how to work with the terminal).
BTW SSj100 do you keep using windows XP or have you switched?

Re: Is this place dead?
Hi Peter5, my desktop still uses Windows XP with the same security setup. No reason to upgrade, and the 7 year old computer is running just as fast as ever, and still virus free!
I've recently acquired a laptop hybrid (can switch to a tablet form) with Windows 8.1 on it - I'm impressed with how fast Windows 8 boots up (especially fast since I have a SSD in the laptop). In terms of security, I've only created a Standard User Account and installed Sandboxie. I'm probably not going to do much else as life is a bit busy for me these days haha.
Nice to see you are furthering your knowledge and computer experience Peter5!
