over-zealous black-listers
I am in the habit from time to time,of downloading an running on-demand scanners, while in Shadow mode.
Yesterday,I decided to give A-Squared free,or what ever they call it these days a try.
It through up a series of false positives, all of which I could understand, vested interests taken on board, other than this one:C:\WINDOWS\system32\a3d.dll detected: Trojan.Win32.Agent!A2
Really bad show!!
Of course I did not allow the scanner to do anything, not that it would have mattered in ShadowMode, and I followed the path and downloaded the file to virus total.
It was pristine, even on A-Squared and Ikarus!!
(heuristics in A-Squared I presume?)
This simply will not do!!
Had a new user reacted in a reactionary way,he/she may have found a dead sound system.
As signature detection programs attempt to keep up,they become more and more hair-trigger!!
Great argument for leaving nothing automatic, not updates, and Heaven Forbid not cleaning!!
grrrr.

Good thing you didn't enable automatic cleaning (particularly if you use/need audio 3D) on a3d.dll haha:

Regardless, A-squared is well known to have a high false positive rate in my experience, and also in many others.
I also recall that a complete full system scan takes a very long time with A-squared.

In AV industry there are several epic fails related to this topic.
Last one was done by Symantec if I remind correctly. Thousand users got their systems halted due a false positive.

Chinese computers in 2007?
Since then AVG, Bitdefender and McAfee have gone on an OS crippling spree.
